What does Panhandle Birth Services do?

Panhandle Birth Services offers comprehensive midwifery care, including prenatal, birth, and postpartum services, as well as newborn care. We provide personalized, supportive care in both home and birth center settings.

Where are you located?

We are based in Amarillo, TX, and serve the Texas Panhandle area.

What types of birth settings do you offer?

We offer both home births and births at our fully equipped birth center. You can choose the setting that best fits your needs and preferences.

What services are included in your prenatal care?

Our prenatal care includes regular check-ups, prenatal screening tests, lab work, and education about your birthing options. We also provide guidance on diet, exercise, and preparation for labor and delivery.

What happens during labor and delivery?

During labor, we monitor fetal heart tones and maternal health, support you in comfortable positions for pushing, and ensure both you and your baby are handling labor well. We also provide a Passage Pool for water births, which is included in your birth kit and yours to keep.

What kind of postpartum care do you provide?

Postpartum care includes monitoring vital signs for both mother and baby, providing detailed care instructions, and ensuring a clean birth area. We also offer 24/7 phone support via call or text to address any questions or concerns.

How often do you follow up after birth?

We schedule follow-up visits at 36 hours, 5 days, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks after birth. These visits include newborn screenings and assessments for critical congenital heart defects.

How do I get my baby’s birth certificate?

Birth certificates are certified within 5 days of your baby's birth. You can pick up the certificate at your local vital statistics office after it has been registered with the state.

What if I need support outside of regular office hours?

We provide 24/7 phone support via call or text to ensure you have access to help and answers whenever you need them.
